ELEMENTARY ART
Similar to the Kinder Art Workshops in their experimental approach to art making, the Elementary Arts program has a more direct focus on different artistic processes and guides its students on how to use the art materials in the technically designed way to achieve the desired effect. As with the other arts programs at Art House, once the instructional time has been completed the students are given free reign to make the art they want and are encouraged to be as individual and creative in their approach to their own work as possible. Through encouragement of their own creative individuality and the idea that ‘there are no mistakes in art’, the elementary students will develop a sense of confidence in their artistic abilities.
With the workshop venue being an arts gallery of rotating exhibitions, the students can see what professional artists are making and feel inspired by this.
At the end of each year, we host an exhibition where the Elementary and Kinder students exhibit their work that is open to parents, friends and the general public. Through preparation for the exhibition the Elementary students are taught the basics of exhibiting artwork: titling their piece, making caption cards and selecting the artwork for show.
